CAD Training

SOLIDWORKS Surface Modeling

Length: 2 Days
Prerequisite: This is not a beginning user class, we recommend completion of the Advanced Parts class or extensive experience with complex shapes before taking SOLIDWORKS Surface Modeling.
Description:

This CAD Training class picks up where the Advanced Part class leaves off, and goes into detail about how to achieve complex shapes using all the tools available. In this class we also walk the student through surface modeling techniques and the interchange between solids and surfaces.

Topics:
  • Curves - 2D/3D splines, intersection, projected and composite curves
  • Surface Sweeps - set up, best practice, tricks to achieve common shapes
  • Surface Lofts - set up, best practice, tricks to achieve common shapes
  • Boundary Surfaces
  • Solids only functions - deform, dome, shape, delete face
  • Surfaces only functions - fill, delete hole, replace face, trim/untrim/extend
  • Model evaluation
  • Manipulating imported data - de- and re-constructing imported geometry
  • Repairing Imported Geometry
  • Advanced filleting topics:
    • Variable/multi radius
    • Face
    • Full round
    • Setback
    • Curvature continuous
    • Fillet ordering
