How-To: Create Custom HDR Environments in Visualize

Learn to place your product virtually in a custom scene without having to hire a professional photographer in this on-demand webinar.

About This On-Demand Webinar

In this twenty-minute webinar, TriMech Application Engineers, Chris Duchaine and Chris Mowatt, demonstrate how to create custom HDR environments in SOLIDWORKS Visualize.

But before diving into how to import an HDR image into an environment, we breakdown the fundamentals of HDR images (360° panoramic image projecting light onto a 3D model) and explain what visualize environments are. Having this background will help guide you on how to create HDR images, including what type of camera to use, software to stitch, tools to import and settings to adjust.

Once we establish an understanding of how HDR environments are used in the SOLIDWORKS software, we explain step-by-step instructions on how to create them.

  • Use 360° camera and HDR App for camera control to capture the image at varied exposures
  • Import images to Photoshop
  • Select Tone in ACR to merge the images
  • Publish the image as HDR
  • Add HDR environment to Visualize project
  • Activate the HDR environment
  • Set up the HDR Environment in Scene settings

And the best part? You don’t have to be a Photoshop expert to create custom HDR environments and experience all the benefits of using High Dynamic Range images (HDR). See for yourself by watching this on-demand webinar or taking one of our beginner-friendly SOLIDWORKS Visualize training classes.
