We’re less than a month away from the big event (22 days, to be exact!). SOLIDWORKS World 2017 kicks off on February 5 in sunny Los Angeles, CA.
It will be a much-welcome reprieve from the cold for many of us, but also a time to network and explore new technologies in 3D CAD, simulation, electrical design and schematics, product data management and more.
We’ve got your must-know information for navigating this year’s event.

Tailgating SOLIDWORKS World 2017
Football fans love a good tailgate party. This year, SOLIDWORKS is hosting that tailgate party for you. If you’re arriving on Super Bowl Sunday, you don’t have to miss the big game. Join in on the fun happening in the Los Angeles Convention Center’s South Hall lobby beginning at 3:00pm PST.
We’ll even save you a beer.
Inspirational Keynotes
There’s no better way to get motivated for 2017 than to hear from innovators who broke the bounds of what’s possible. SOLIDWORKS has assembled a great community of industry visionaries, engineers and designers to provide new perspectives that will inspire you to reinvent how you approach design.
>> We’ll be tweeting about the opening sessions. Follow us on Twitter for live updates.

SOLIDWORKS User Group Network Summit
The SOLIDWORKS User Group Network (SWUGN) Summit is a SOLIDWORKS World staple. In its 18th year, the summit brings together hundreds of SWUGN leaders, officers, group members and SOLIDWORKS executives to network, share stories and talk about the success of the SWUGs. You may even see the SOLIDWORKS CEO stop by!
This year’s summit will be held on Monday, February 6 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Everyone is invited to attend to see how they can get involved with a local SWUG or form their own group.
>> Subscribe to our blog to stay in-the-loop about SOLIDWORKS World 2017
Plus (a little TriMech plug): TriMech has been voted the SWUGN Reseller of the Year for 2016. Our engineering director, Kevin Zich, will be there to accept the award and say a few words. Way to go, TriMech engineers!
Perusing The Partner Pavilion
The Partner Pavilion offers you a unique opportunity to meet and ask questions of SOLIDWORKS Solution partners, like Dell, HP, Lenovo, CAMWorks, DriveWorks, CreaForm, KeyShot and more. You can also check out innovative new products hitting the market, including a special announcment from one of our 3D printer partners.
>> See how 3D printing is changing the way industries design and manufacture
What’s the big reveal, you ask? You’ll have to check back here on February 6 to find out.
DraftSight Live
An exciting new add-on this year is DraftSight Live, an event for the 2D design and drafting community. If you’re an architect, engineer, construction service provider, professional CAD user, designer, educator or hobbyist, you won’t want to miss this.
In addition to industry insights and live product demos, you’ll get a full year subscription to DraftSight Professional (a $199 value) with your participation fee.
SOLIDWORKS World Style: Three New T-Shirts
You’ll have your choice of three user-designed t-shirts. The first is from William from Graniteville. His shirt features the SOLIDWORKS World logo in place of the Hollywood sign.
Your second option (and my personal favorite) comes from Daniel from Honolulu. His design shows the beautiful California sun shining over the LA skyline.
Last but not least is a submission from Buddy of Fountain Valley. His shirt represents the conference as a whole with the letters “LA” flanked by the Hollywood sign.
While they didn’t win, two TriMech AEs entered their designs into the contest this year.
Devin and Tracy are very creative, and we are proud to have them on the team. Nice work, Devin and Tracy!
SOLIDWORKS World 2017 Special “Fun” Event
We said this was a complete guide, and our guide wouldn’t truly be complete without everyone’s favorite: the Tuesday evening special event.
SOLIDWORKS is hosting this year’s event on February 7 from 7:30pm – 10:30pm PT on the New York City Street backlot of Paramount Pictures Studios. You might recognize the backlot as the scene of many of your favorite shows, like Seinfeld, NCIS-LA, Mad Men, This Is Us, Glee, Casle and Marvel’s Agents of Shield. Forrest Gump, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and other movie classics have also been filmed at this famous location. Wow!
Get ready for lots of performances, arcade games, live music and more at this once-in-a-lifetime block party. We can’t wait!
SOLIDWORKS will provide transportation to and from the hotel beginning at 6:45pm freeing you up to enjoy all the food and libations at your leisure.
Staying at SOLIDWORKS World
SOLIDWORKS has room blocks at several hotels in the area. Due to high demand, there are only two hotels taking new reservations, so call quickly!
Omni Los Angeles – 213.617.3300
LA Hotel Downtown – 213.617.1133
Don’t have your conference pass? It’s not too late to register! You can get your full conference pass, educator pass, student pass or one-day pass now at the SOLIDWORKS World 2017 website.
Can’t Make It to SOLIDWORKS World?
Just because you aren’t headed to California doesn’t mean you have to miss all the action. You can stream the opening sessions live each day right from your desk.
