Facebook_SSYS Blog GrabCAD Print 1.14 & 1.15.pngIn May 2016, Stratasys released GrabCad Print, a sophisticated 3D printing app that allows designers and engineers to prepare, schedule and monitor 3D printing jobs. Since its release, GrabCAD has continued to make exciting updates to this software; and I will be updating you every month on its new features – February 2018 launches GrabCAD Print 1.14 & 1.15.

Printer Settings

The first exciting feature in GrabCAD’s latest release is the ability to see what your printer settings are without having to go look elsewhere. Now, GrabCAD will ask if you would like to change to what is loaded in the printer. This new feature keeps accidental material mismatches minimal and saves a lot of time upfront. To use this feature, it’s as easy as clicking on print settings, followed by “Get printer Configuration.”  GrabCAD Print 1.15 New Printer Settings

Also, the settings of any newly created tray will always match the one you’re currently viewing. This will also speed up print preparation for projects with multiple trays.

For PolyJet users that have a Stratasys J750, a new slider is available in the 2.png“Arrange”  tool. You can now control whether the arrangement is optimized for minimal print time or minimal support material usage.

This is especially helpful when needing to orientate parts quickly based off speed and support consumption. The current time line will stay in place rather than slowly move out of schedule view.

The details on the screen in the printer panel now show the model and support tip odometers as well as the envelope and head temperatures for FDM systems.

GrabCAD Print 1.15 Warning ScreenIf your FDM systems have multiple material bays, new icons in the printer panel indicate which material bays are currently loaded in the print heads. This will also reflect the color of material loaded as well. A pop-up warning now appears when clicking the print button if the job has materials or tips selected which do not match the current printer configuration.
