Using The Previous Selection Tool in SOLIDWORKS

By Stephen Petrock on

Selecting items and geometric features in SOLIDWORKS used to often be tedious. With one misplaced click or unexpected move, you could lose all your selections. Fortunately there’s a tool in SOLIDWORKS that can help you get right back to where you were – Previous Selection. In this week’s Video Tech Tip, we show you how to use this selection tool.

Previous Selection Tool in SOLIDWORKSThe Previous Selection option in SOLIDWORKS was added to the toolset in 2015 with the addition of the selection context toolbar. The selection context toolbar appears when you right-click an empty space in the graphics area. This works for both parts and assemblies. It’s a quick way to get access to the most commonly used selection tools.

This tool restores the last set of entities you selected. It comes in handy if you accidentally cleared the selections with which you were actively working. It’s one of those tools that you hope never to need, but  it’s good to know it’s there.
