Our third top new feature in SOLIDWORKS 2019 is the ability to add a partial fillet and chamfer. This was the enhancement that got the most cheer from a packed auditorium when it was previewed at SOLIDWORKS World 2018 in Los Angeles, and it’s easy to see why.

How It Works
With this update, fillets and chamfers can be added to model edges at custom lengths. It’s easy to control this with inputs from the property manager or directly on the screen by dragging and dropping the start and end points. Adding fillets or chamfers to models was always easy, but it could only be applied to the entire length of a model edge, regardless of your design intent. Previously, if your design needed additional details you’d be forced to create many features to split the model edges or even to patch in the rest of the fillet to create one at a custom length. What this means for you is that now with SOLIDWORKS 2019 you’ll be able to create complex designs, faster and in fewer steps than ever before.
