TriMech Services does a lot of work with the Department of Defense (DoD) and Government sectors. Since we’ve supported a range of projects for all branches of the military, we know what they are looking for in contract, contract-to-hire and direct hire employees. If you’re interested in applying for a government job, here are some things you need to know:
When applying for a job, it is important to engineering and government industries seek a certain technical and cultural fit. The military has a strict corporate culture that strongly revolves around quality assurance, so finding similar attributes in an employee is critical. Know that when applying for a position through our Government Services, we will take great measures to fit our job applicant clients with our client’s organizational culture. Since the military has it’s own measure of quality assurance, you may need to take mental and physical tests as well as provide documentation, medical and legal history to be eligible for hire.
Variety of Placement
Know that DoD and Government projects vary from the duration of the position to the location of service and even the type of project. That being said, job descriptions can drastically differ in requirements. If you have an idea of what type of work you are interested in, talk to a recruiter. They help you make sense of different types of positions hiring.
Aside from working with a recruiter, also consider working with a contract holder. This assures you that the partnerships and work availability is more reliable and predictable.
For example, our Government Services is teamed up with multiple prime contract holders, so we can provide cleared resources. Some of the current contract vehicles we have include CEOss, WEBs, CBRNE Mission Support, GSA Bridge C4ISR, QREWS and SeaPort-E. In addition, we’ve supported projects with electro mechanical, systems engineering, thermal simulation, design and analysis, advanced surfacing and modeling, FEA analysis and staffing/technical resource acquisition. This background helps us make more educated placements for people applying for a government job.
These are only a few of the many things to know when applying for a government job. For more information, read our DoD Services page.
