One of the examples of the power of SOLIDWORKS Electrical is showcased in this video tech tip. Here we show you how to set up a rule to drive terminal marks with the properties of connected wire marks.

This functionality was first seen in 2017 with the introduction of a new command called propagate data. Which allows you to push your wire marks to your terminal marks. Effectively syncing them together.

In the example shown in the video we take the wire marks that are labeled according to the page they’re on and push those to the terminal marks which are using a default flat numbering system.

This is done using the propagate data to connected objects which is located on the Process ribbon of the Command Manager. With this tool you can set up a rule which can be for anything the entire project or just certain items. All you need to do is select a source object to copy data from and a destination object. In this case the Equipotential from the wire was defined as the object and Mark of the wire was the data selected. The destination object was the terminal and the data was the Mark of the terminal.

Just like that the rule has been established to take the equipotential mark from a connected wire and push that to the terminal mark, effectively syncing the two.
