Introducing the Stratasys J55: Ideas Spun to Life

By TriMech on

As a leader in the 3D printing industry, Stratasys is continuously improving their product portfolio and technologies to provide you the best solutions available in the market. It has been an exciting few months for their PolyJet J-series of printers, and it continues to get better. Stratasys just launched their newest addition to this family, the Stratasys J55, designed to bring you unparalleled part realism, in an office or studio environment, at an affordable price.

Bringing High-End PolyJet Printing In-House

Stratasys J55 Rotational TrayDesigned for maximum output, the new J55 allows you to have high-quality and accurate parts right in your office. It is the first printer to use a rotational printing sequence composed of a static print head, a transition zone and a rotational tray. The use of a static print head allows for the materials’ consistent jetting and, combined with the rotating build tray, creates shorter, radial 3D printing paths for faster, high accuracy and quality prints in a matter of hours. Additionally, this machine achieves high reliability and low maintainability with its new UV illumination sequence. The energy-efficient LED light lasts longer and provides optimal print viewing, with minimal UV emissions.

Stratasys J55 3D PrinterIn comparison to the J8 series enterprise printers, like the J850, the J55 has a smaller footprint but runs the same quality prints as the other printers in this family, with some material exceptions like Digital ABS. It has a multi-material capability of up to five digital materials plus support material, and the ability to print more than 400,000 colors and up to 1,900 PANTONE-validated colors and SkinTones ™. You’ll be able to create unlimited combinations of glass-like color transparency and mimic textures such as leather, wood, etc.

The J55 is seamlessly connected to the GrabCAD Print software and lets you innovate faster with 3MF file format compatibility to make your work in software like KeyShot® or SOLIDWORKS as simple as “point and click.”

What’s New, You Ask?

In addition to offering an affordable price range and condensed build size, the J55 delivers improved capabilities, including:

icon workflow

Accelerated Workflow: The new J55 allows you to get 5x more design iterations than other printers using more traditional methods right from your office. The rotational sequence technology allows for the materials’ consistent jetting and creates high accuracy and quality prints in a matter of hours without the need to change materials between each print job. The High Quality Speed mode allows you to quickly print your design without any post-processing or additional man power.

icon speed

Make Faster Design Decisions: With the J55, you can reduce your production time and speed up the approval and decision processes. Additionally, you can save up to 85% on production costs compared to an average modeling service bureau. Calibration is fully automatic, and the entire maintenance process is as simple as pushing a button.

Power Designs with Color: The J55 is PANTONE-Validated™. This enables you to match Stratasys CMYK colors to more than 1,900 printable PANTONE colors and SkinTones™. You’ll be able to create endless combinations of colors and mimic different textures with great resolution and outstanding surface finish.

icon accuracy

Accuracy: The following is the typical deviation from STL dimensions, for 1 Sigma (67%) of models printed with rigid materials, based on size: under 100 mm – ±150μm; above 100 mm – ±0.15% of part length.

The following is the typical deviation from STL dimensions, for 2 Sigma (95%) of models printed with rigid materials, based on size: under 100 mm – ±180 μm; above 100 mm – ±0.2% of part length.

The J-Series Line-Up

The J55 was created using the same technology as the other members of the J-series. However, there are some differences including print modes and build size that make these products different.
