Importing DWG Title Blocks into SOLIDWORKS Electrical

By Tim Pulaski on

If you are a SOLIDWORKS Electrical user, then you’re probably familiar with the title blocks that appear when you start up a project. But did you know you can also use custom company title blocks in your project templates? Watch our Video Tech Tip to learn how to import DWG title blocks.

The SOLIDWORKS Electrical software comes with several pre-loaded title blocks in the Title Block Manager. But in the event you want to define your own company title block, you also have the option to browse and import existing DWG files. During the import process, you’ll be prompted with a series of options where you can choose settings like where the title blocks will be saved in your library and what other properties you want associated with them.

Last but not least is my favorite feature, where you can save the title block import settings to make future imports quicker and easier. This is a huge time saver for people who have multiple title blocks to import, especially if they are coming from a competing product like AutoCAD Electrical. Once the import is concluded, it is ready to be assigned to an active schematic.
