Learning how to define Revision Tables in SOLIDWORKS Electrical starts with a basic understanding of the two types and how they work. Lucky for you, we cover both in this Video Tech Tip.

There are two types of Revision Tables in SOLIDWORKS Electrical — Static Revision Tables and Cascade Revision Tables. In this example, when you have less than three changes, both tables behave identically. It isn’t until you add more than three changes that you will notice the static list stays the same and the cascading style bumps out the previous revisions. Because of these characteristics, static lists are commonly used on pages where it’s important to see every revision (such as on cover sheets), while cascading is more frequently seen when space is an issue.

To define revision tables, just open a title block and revision table and select whether you want to define as a book or drawing. Here you can select the attributes for properties like revision name, date and changes. The biggest difference when defining which type of table is that when setting up a Static Table you count away from zero and when setting up a Cascade Table you count toward zero.
