With the snow coming down we thought it would be the perfect time to show off SOLIDWORKS Composer and how it can be used to create an interactive animation assembly. In the on-demand webinar below, I demonstrate this by using the software to assemble a 3D printed snowflake from four unique components. 

Before you dive into creating the digital click-through manual, it’s important to know the set up of the program. SOLIDWORKS Composer has three main symbols/sections you should know before starting. 

1) Back & Forward Arrow

On the left side of the screen you will see two green arrows. These will help you toggle through the different steps of your assembly, from the very beginning to the completed version. This allows you to quickly move through the steps as well as re-watch any that you may need to see more than once. 

2) Red Arrow

Right below the green arrows, you will see a red arrow, which will also appear on the instructions. The red arrow shows you the grasp location. These are very important symbols to pay attention to because they dictate where to grab and hold a piece during the assembly, which will help ensure that everything is being put together in the correct way. 

3) White Circles

On the right side of the instructions you can find white circles with different components inside them. These are the parts used to assemble the puzzle.
