In this video, we are going to cover how to customize a document template using the xDrawing app on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. If you’re unfamiliar with the xDrawing app, objects are based on model definition, or model-based definition, which means we’re going to be working in a 3D space when adding dimensions.
First, I created a front view, right view, top view, and an ISO view. To export this part into a drawing, I’m going to use the standard format and add the view that I want to the sheet. Next, I will add the information to the Title Block and edit the information if necessary. Because it’s just a table, I can make edits and adjustments to the table parameters, such as making the the title bigger.
I can also edit the blocks to display any information I need to relay. In this case, I will add the weight and I can also go in and make a lot more customizations. I can also add or remove columns. Now that I have some of the customizations added, I can save this to a template because I don’t want to have to do this every single time.
Now that we have a title block that is customized accordingly, I want to save it as a template. We can see in the top-left that we have a choice of either Accept Sheet or Manage Sheet. If I choose to Manage Sheet, I will be prompted with an option to “Save Format”. From here, I will add a name and where I want to save it. For this example, I’m going to leave mine in my demo space and save it there.
To reuse, I can simply add another sheet and select Create a new sheet from a template. Choose the template and click Okay. Now I have a new sheet with my new title block.
