For example, with the 3DPlay app users can view the 3D models that your team has created and view any annotations/markups. This allows less powerful devices to be used to both view the models and create your own markups, with any touch enabled device you can create markups by drawing on the model and then share them with the team.

With applications like 3DSwym, your team can quickly communicate and collaborate by funneling ideas and exchanging information via internal or external groups that encompass all areas of your business from marketing, sales, design and manufacturing.
Drawn sketches or rough models are posted in Communities, another great tool to improve cross-functional collaboration and communication. It works as a “social” platform within 3DEXPERIENCE, through which your teams can collaborate on product design throughout a project’s lifecycle. They can exchange ideas and comment on each other’s projects with markups being easily added by any member to come to a collective decision for your project’s direction.
Project Management
The Project Planner app allows managers to quickly create and assign tasks to users in a space that allows the progress for those tasks to be easily tracked. Engineers can easily link their files to these tasks for managers to see their progress. Gantt charts can be created using those tasks, dependencies can be created by just clicking and dragging onto both tasks. When you finish a task, you can link your files to that task, helping eliminate long email chains. As obstacles appear during your project’s lifecycle, you will be able to easily update these dependencies for your team to see, helping your team stay up to date with what needs to be done next on your project.
Dashboards can be created and customized to be able to get a snapshot of all these apps so that you can view all the progress being made on your project within one window. With the use of the 3DPlay app, the analysts on your team can easily share their simulation results with others who do not have access to the tools required to work on the simulations themselves. Managers will also be easily able to share these results. with clients or upper management by being able to view these results even on a mobile device.
Software licensing can also be better controlled. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform offers a variety of software “Roles” that tailor the accessible functionality and available applications to change how individual users interact with the project during its lifecycle. By tailoring the roles to fit each individual’s exact needs for the project, the cost of ownership can be further reduced compared to purchasing a collection of independent software.
Single Data Repository
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform allows your team to all use one library system. The system gives you the ability to set who has access to edit your files, as well as have revision control. This means that your team can access the most current file versions wherever they are. The library system can easily be integrated with the task pane on your desktop version of SOLIDWORKS so you don’t have to leave the SOLIDWORKS interface. This can be a great time–saver, by allowing industrial designers using 3D Sculptor and engineers using SOLIDWORKS to integrate their designs seamlessly having access to one another’s files, while also having a place to discuss their designs together.
