Ever needed a paper towel only to have it get stuck in the dispenser? You pull, tug and wiggle it trying to get one out.
An employee from our sister company, M-Force, got a little too aggressive with our kitchen dispenser and snapped it right off. Ooops.
Our Rapid Prototyping team quickly jumped to the rescue. They reverse engineered the part in SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD and sent the build file to our Stratasys uPrint SE Plus 3D printer. Using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology, the uPrint can create durable ABSplus thermoplastic parts. ABSplus is stronger than materials typically used by other 3D printers. The result was a completely functional new dispenser made in less than 6 hours (including design and print time).
“We don’t know where we would actually get another part, so money was saved on buying a part and shipping it here,” said Will Lewellyn, our Rapid Prototyping Service Tech who engineered the dispenser. “The new part actually works better and is much stronger than the old part.”
If your interested in our Rapid Prototyping Services for your business, we offer both PolyJet and FDM technologies. The wide range of materials available makes it possible allows us to customize transparency, high strength, high-temperature resistance and flexibility.
