With SOLIDWORKS PCB, unprecedented levels of collaboration are possible between mechanical CAD and electrical CAD. These two historically separate teams can now work seamlessly on the same models in real time in their own respective software.
The seamless syncing of the design data is what enables separate groups of designers, working in two different tools, to be working on the same design in real time. This workflow can get very complicated very quickly when there are multiple versions or variations of a design. In this video tech tip, we walk through how to SOLIDWORKS PCB handles this no problem.

The mechanical CAD users can continue working with SOLIDWORKS while the electrical CAD users can work in SOLIDWORKS PCB. The syncing and collaboration all happens behind the scenes, completely invisible to the users.
In this example there are two different circuit board designs- one with a USB connector and a different version without the USB connector. By adding this variation to the design in SOLIDWORKS PCB the configuration will be automatically be created in the 3D model to capture this difference. This is all happening behind the scenes. Since the connector was removed from the PCB design, the component will be suppressed in the 3D design.
