Aversa of Ford Motor Company presented several key challenges that the company is facing and how using SOLIDWORKS Simulation could help companies innovate just like how they are doing. Ford described these challenges as a renaissance of sustainability and mobility within the automotive industry. Their focus is leveraging finite element analysis and computational fluid methods to meet the requirements for electrified power-train and low to zero CO2 emissions that are driving the market. Incorporating renewable & recyclable materials into their manufacturing process has enabled the company to minimize waste and reduce time when designing power-plants and transmissions. Addressing these challenges early in the development process has been invaluable to their business as the automotive market has incoming competitions not traditionally seen in the previous decades.

In recent years, public consciousness block-chain technology has disrupted the financial market as a new emerging monetary standard is on the rise: Bitcoin. The Block-chain Consortium aims to leverage this technology to solve current problems such as the insurance liability cycle within engineering.

Tony Abby, a renowned expert within the NAFEMS organization, delivered over six hours of lecture-based instruction on frequency analysis, fatigue and composites. This was the largest filled classroom with over 75 attendees packed in for a comprehensive overview of the common misconceptions relating to these topics. Tony’s core-concepts approach lays the groundwork for taking on more complex problems such as identifying metal fatigue, utilizing Haigh diagrams, or why modal shapes in frequency analyses are important.
