With PhotoView 360 you can take your 3D models and turn them into images so real you won’t be able to tell the difference between a photograph and the rendering. But to be able to take your models and turn them into photographs, you’ll need to take care of all the details. When it comes to renderings in SOLIDWORKS PhotoView 360, the details matter. In this week’s Video Tech Tip we’ll share with you the bloom effects which really add a great deal of realism to your model.
The Bloom Effect
The bloom is the amount of light that reflects off a surface. As you can image, recreating the way light interacts with objects has huge implications into the level of realism you can achieve in your rendering.
The bloom effect in PhotoView 360 is a great way to get lighting information to automatically show on your final rendering. This really makes your images “pop” and helps you achieve that added amount of realism. What’s great about PhotoView 360 is that this bloom effect is as simple as adding a material that has this property defined in it. Making realistic renderings couldn’t be easier than it is with PhotoView 360.
It’s as easy as just applying a material from the appearance library. It’s just a drag and drop functionality you’re used to with standard SOLIDWORKS modeling. The bloom information is embedded in the material properties. All of the controls for the lighting are defined by the illumination tab of the appearance properties. The only other option you need to include is a checkbox in the render options to include the bloom effects.
