One of the new enhancements in 2022X FD03 was the addition of a welcome screen for 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS and 3D creator. If we go into a 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS dashboard, you’ll see we have a Welcome tab. Now, if you’ve been using SOLIDWORKS for a while like I have, this will be the same Welcome tab that was installed when you first installed 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS.
To access the new Welcome tab, we simply go into the compass and search for “welcome”. We’ll see that it’s been placed in the compass as an app that we can launch. Now, I’m going to pin it to my existing welcome dashboard. It’s as simple as clicking on the pin in the upper right-hand corner and telling it which dashboard you would like the new app to be placed on.
We can install and launch SOLIDWORKS right from this tab. Any of the apps we have access to or many of the common ones will be available here, and it will also prompt me if I need any updates. This will quickly and easily launch SOLIDWORKS without having to go into a compass right from the first tab in my browser. Even if I have any files pre-selected in my bookmarks, it’ll open this for me.
Next, the welcome tab has access to a lot of tutorial videos. To launch the tutorial videos, you simply click on them, and they can run in the welcome tab, or we have the option to pop these videos out into their own screen where we can watch side-by-side while we’re working in SOLIDWORKS.
The last benefit that the Welcome App gives us is access to the Communities. This is where we can go in and ask questions to fellow SOLIDWORKS users. Simply click on the community and it’ll launch it in the browser. And in this community or forum, we can ask any questions and collaborate with SOLIDWORKS users. So, the new Welcome Tab gives us a lot of benefit when starting out with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS.
