3D Print Large Tools and Parts Faster

By Samantha Bild on

Stratasys is introducing a Fortus 900mc acceleration kit to help 3D print large tools and parts faster. Here’s what you need to know:

Fortus900mc.jpgT40A TIP

This new kit reduces the time and cost, so you can 3D print large tools and parts faster than before. How? By introducing the new T40A “20-slice” tip.

The plug-and-play T40A tip prints at a larger slice thicknesses than the T20 tip, resulting in builds that are two to three times faster. The T40A tip is a viable alternative for producing large parts where aesthetics are not the main concern. The acceleration kit is best utilized when larger build lines and stair-stepping are acceptable in parts.

Materials

The kit is compatible with ASA and ULTEM™ 1010 materials.

The best applications for ASA with the kit include jigs and fixtures, tooling, and prototypes. All standard ASA colors in 92-cubic-inch canisters are available for use with the acceleration kit, but ASA natural is the only color/material available in the XTEND 500 Fortus Plus boxes.

ULTEM™ 1010 is perfect for printing large composite tools and prototypes. It has the highest heat resistance, chemical resistance, and tensile strength of any FDM plastic. It is available in Fortus Plus and Classic 92-cubic-inch canisters.

There are two support material options available with this kit. SR30 can be utilized as support with the T20B tip, and ULTEM™ 1010 resin acts as support with the T20 tip.
