3 Ways to Find Your SOLIDWORKS Serial Number

By Mark Peterson on

Finding your SOLIDWORKS serial number is easy if you know where to look. You are given your serial number when you first get SOLIDWORKS and over time this could get lost or forgotten. Why would you need to know this? Knowing your serial number is important, especially when you call TriMech for technical support. You can also get access to all the extra online features through MySOLIDWORKS and the customer portal. In this Video Tech Tip, we will show you three ways to find your SOLIDWORKS serial number.

1. The SOLIDWORKS Help Menu

The most straight forward way to get your serial number is through the help menu in SOLIDWORKS. From the help menu, just click about SOLIDWORKS and you’ll have the option to show your SOLIDWORKS serial number.

2. SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager

Through the control panel you can access the Installation Manager, which will give you access to more than just your SOLIDWORKS CAD serial number and all the additional numbers for your other applications like Visualize, inspection, and more.

3. Windows Registry Editor

After installing SOLIDWORKS, the serial numbers are written in the registry. In some very rare cases, this is the only way to get access to the serial number. So, when methods 1 or 2 don’t work, you can fall back on this method which is a little more advanced.
