Let’s take a look at my three favorite features Click and Drag, Collaborative Tasks Tool and 3DSWYM Conversations within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform that makes it easier to do my job and keep the project moving forward without downtime or switching from one program to another.
Click and Drag Feature
Something I really like about the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is the click and drag functionality you can find throughout the platform. If it makes sense to click and drag something from one place to another, you probably can. So instead of getting hung up on lots of contexts, specific import commands or loading commands, personnel assignment forms, etc., almost anything can be clicked and dragged from one space to another. For example, the following can easily be done using the click and drag feature:
- When importing a component into an assembly.
- When I open a component in its own window
- When I store an assembly in a convenient bookmark.
- Want to inspect that assembly in 3DPLAY? Click and drag to open that assembly in SOLIDWORKS.
- Change a task due date.
- Assign a task to someone.
Collaborative Tasks Tool
Another thing that I really like about the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is the Collaborative Tasks tool. Collaborative Tasks happen when you have a task that you need to do that doesn’t necessarily need to go through a formal workflow. That’s where this tool comes in handy, it’s simple and easy to use and robust. Creating a task is as easy as hitting the Create Task button and filling out the fields when prompted. Or if you want to put more information into the task, you can add a description. You can also assign a priority. You can assign a due date and attach relevant files, and as you make progress, you can return and upload your deliverables. If you want to assign the task to somebody else, you can search for other members in your organization and even start a conversation from within the task. Or better yet, you could start a conversation with the assigning user in 3DSWYM in the Conversations tab.
3DSWYM Conversations
3DSWYM Conversations is another app that I really like on a 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Here we have the tools for a dynamic conversation such as an audio call, video call, or you can even share your screen. You can start a conversation history here too. You can include photos or videos in the conversation tab to keep the project moving forward. Or you could even gather it from your 3D player. Just click publish to 3DSWYM and change it to a conversation.
You may realize that this conversation would be better as a full-blown community. Let’s say you have some conversation history here, and you’d like to take this out of the conversation space and create a community. Well, to do that, you can simply transfer into the Community, and that will give you a 3DSWYM conversation with all of its functionality, and it’s all done from right here in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform close to where your data is kept and where you’re doing your modeling work and your file management. So you don’t really have to leave this space and go out to other programs, or start a whole email chain. It’s all right here on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
